As part of the ACS Chemists Celebrate Earth Day (CCED) Celebration, the ACS sponsors a poetry contest for K-12 students. Students can pick topic related to that year’s topic. Poems can be any style (free verse, limerick, haiku, etc.). Entries are judged based on relevance to and incorporation of theme, word choice and imagery, colorful artwork, adherence to poem style, originality and creativity, and overall presentation.
Each 1st place winner receives a check for $50, and their winning poem is entered into the ACS National CCED poetry contest, sponsored by the Office of Community and Activities and Committee on Community Activities.
If you have any questions, please contact the CCED Coordinator, Mike Mautino, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
