“Energy Symposium

The Drake Well Museum in Titusville, PA will hold a Family Day celebration on Sunday August 26, 2012 to commemorate the grand opening of the renovated museum with its new exhibits.  In conjunction with that event, there will be an energy symposium on Monday August 27 in the Multipurpose Room at the Museum.  This symposium will discuss various past, present and future methods of energy production, including fossil fuels, nuclear, and renewable resources.  The Museum is located on PA 8 just South of Titusville. 

Morning: History of Energy Production in Pennsylvania

  • History of Oil Refining in Pennsylvania – David DuBois, American Refining Group
  • George Westinghouse Reenactment – Ed Reis, Heinz History Center, Pittsburgh

  • Dedication of ACS National Historic Landmark Plaque
  • Lunch, visit exhibits

Afternoon: Technology of Energy Production in Pennsylvania

  • Westinghouse New Nuclear Reactor Build Update – Brian R. Beebe, Westinghouse
  • Coal in the United States and Throughout the World –  Don Puglio, Consol Energy
  • Remediation in the Petroleum Industry – Timothy Kier*, Letterle & Associates
  • Hydropower:  The Seneca Pumped Storage Project — Ron Kovach, First Energy
  • Biomass Energy Technology for Pennsylvania – Evan Hughes, Consultant
  • Recovery of Methane from Landfill Gas — Don Augenstein, Consultant
